Maine whitetail
deer population stands around 245,000 animals. The extreme northern
part of the state holds deer densities of 2 to 5 per square mile.
Central and southern areas have numbers between 15 and 25. The
annual harvest figure is between 28,000 and 30,000 for a hunter
success rate of 12% to 15%.
Whitetails in Maine are one of the largest of
30 subspecies. The largest doe on record weighed 255 lbs. and the
largest buck 355 lbs. The western mountain region where we hunt
produces the biggest percentage of 200 lb. bucks harvested in the
state. The rugged terrain and abundance of the whitetails favorite
foods make this area a choice destination for hunters seeking the
buck of a life time.
On all hunts we encourage women and children hunters.
For all levels of a quality hunting experience we feel we are
skilled to meet the individual needs, from first timers to those of
you who have had years of hunting opportunities.
Western Maine Outfitters prides itself on
being
Handicapped Accessible. We have ground
blinds and lots of locations to hunt from portable blinds.
